407 Mt. McKinley Place

Our new house and neighborhood exceed all of our expectations!  The homes are beautiful and so well-cared for. The roofs are red tile and most of the exteriors are stucco or cedar.  The lawns are green and the trees and flowering bushes are lovely. Winding streets are lit by very nice lamp posts and the pool, jacuzzi, tennis courts, basketball and softball are all only a three-minute walk from our new house. We could not have landed in a nicer spot in Ridgecrest!

Here are some photos of our house, the neighborhood, the park and clubhouse and the pool.
This is a view of our street from the front yard.
We swim and work out in the fitness center every day.  Sometimes it feels like we are on vacation all the time!  Most of the time we are the only people in the pool, jacuzzi and fitness center.

I don't know how to turn this photo around, so you will have to turn your head:)
Bear made the trip like a trooper--he pants alot, but seems fine.

Now you have an idea of what our surroundings look like.  Jacob, Jeffrey and I went on a tour of the China Lake Naval Air Weapons Systems Base.  No photos are allowed because of security, so you will need to visualize from my descriptions.  Jacob said the base seemed like its own city.  The entrances are all guarded and the buildings are very nice, lots of grass and trees, a beautiful golf course and clubhouse.  Jake and Jeffrey have already hit a bucket of balls at the course.  It is very nice, lots of palm trees.  There is a preschool and an elementary school on the base, along with an all-faiths chapel, a huge indoor fitness center, resturants, gas stations, fire department, police department, commisary, teen center, big pool with slide, on and on.  We can use all base facilities except the gas stations and the commisary.  We have been to the pool.  It is alot bigger than the Heritage Pool and Jake and Jeffrey love the slide.  The weather has been unusually cool, which is a blessing for me.  Still, the temperature has reached 104 several days.  The swamp cooler works great, and we are very comfortable.  We really feel blessed.  Jeffrey really likes his work, and his co-workers.  The ward is very friendly--and very young.  Lots of babies and young children.  So far, everything has been much better than imagined!   We've had some fun seeing the sites of California--I will tell you all about it in my next blog!
